inspired to bring back to life the spirit of their teen and death metal heroes, koljah & oliver deutschmann deliver the 4th konsequenz vinyl slowly we rot . as in their previous releases on vidab and konsequenz, house music is the major player here, presented in 5 different interpretations, for alternate stages of the night. eaten back to life starts the journey with deep vocals, percussions, and hooky horns. picked by sebo k as his personal weekend weapon, the track keeps diving in deeper and deeper until it sucks you in and takes you over. ed davenport s stripped remix, as in its title, is a stripped down power house, that compliments, and in a way completes the original. davenport s shutterdrop remix will be available as a digital bonus. altars of madness on the flip is a harder, more upfront evolution of the a side. techy loops and deep synths support the lead that will stay with you hours after leaving the club. the re edit is a more crisp sharp tech house track, rounding off a record that represents konsequenz right and proud. up next on the label look over feel from mojoe with remixes from daniel stefanik and marlow.

the running back sports team is glad to welcome two new players to its roster. dplay and whiz kid manuel tur (see also his brilliant ribn stuff) have caused a great stir with a bouquet of 12-inches for outfits like zurichs beloved drumpoet community or the compost black label as well as knocking out well-made remixes. for instance, their work on kiloos the passion is just adorable. here we have them melted into one organism called dplay, while mtur moves in silence (or in the production credits, if you please). stretching out on the a-side, huub sand is not only a tribute to two of schalke 04s greatest gentlemen, but a prime-example of cavernous, stoic and infective house those two (no not the schalke guys) had quite an impact on. initially planned to come with a remix by the mighty radio slave (please look at cat-no. 012 to see what became of that), our coach could convince the duo to hand out two rather atypical, nonetheless bloodcurdling tunes instead: tschaka kicks some deep dub disco houz styles of the highest orders with riot-like effects on your mind, body & soul. finally, schroulé is a claustrophobic corker, if we have ever seen one. should be the perfect sound track for padded cells and the up-and-coming remake of mel brooks frankenstein. these ruhrpott kids are alright!

minefield e.p. is the second real soon release by dublin-based italian producer leopoldo rosa (aka lerosa). on this 4-track ep leo brings us more of his warm, loose-limbed, us-influenced, abstract house experiments and, on the snappy title track minefield, refers back to his earlier electro sound. whatever the style, leo has a distinctive touch and a refreshingly simple, unpretentious production style - letting the machines do their business with the minimum of fuss. leo has started to build a strong reputation over the past two years with a series of excellent releases on real soon, enclave recordings, a touch of class, uzuri and millions of moments and has recently entered the live arena - look out for him in a club near you

time to look busy again, as function aka dave sumner comes rampaging through the streets of downtown berlin, kicking aside lesser producers and mauling all who stand in his way. not that you would know it from the supremely controlled affair that is his edit of >variance<. moody in the extreme, this edit sees beautiful interplay between delays and reverbs but without the track sinking into the predictable mire of dub techno. space is indeed the place..

groovebox ep is filled with some class a material for the raunchy dancefloor. first up there is into the club. this track is typical for channel x: it will blow off the roof in the club! as the title of the track already suggests, this is another one of channel xs lengthy journeys into nightlife extravaganzas. a wonderful fidgety bassline and a loop filled with loads of soulful vocal samples from strong male leads to sensitive female souls, this tune is both deep, touchful and destroying. the chainsaw effect session in the middle paves the way for more stomping tech-house business. no time to recover from this, because on the flip its straight onto the floor with wake up: a loop thats made of trillions of little cut-up effects, vocal bits and some straight four to the floor business. after a playful beginning the tune moves into an hypnotic piece of trippy techno only to be converted into a restless party anthem for the Überpeak-time. sick! perhaps there is some time to chill with the last of the three tracks that is against the wall. here it becomes clear what channel x are best at: to create dark, hard and moving electronic music with that special ingredient that is soul. this track is a perfect example: some frightening effects, lots of reverb on the creepy samples, but such a wonderfully harmonic sample that seems to shed light at the end of the never-ending afterhour. if there is a message to this music, it would be: you need to look hard, but there is always love. once again label boss oliver koletzki has picked up these two very talented producers very early upon their career and it has paid off: in one release being better than the one before
